Find your POS system: a 2-minute quiz
How this works
Answer five questions about how you sell and what you care about, and we'll point you to the best-fit POS from the systems we've reviewed — with the reasoning shown, not hidden. Nothing is submitted anywhere; the result is computed in your browser. Prefer to read first? Start with the comparison table or best POS for small business.
How we pick (the logic, in the open)
This quiz uses the same positions as our reviews. In short: full-service restaurants and bars lean to Toast for depth; cafés, quick-service and food trucks lean to Square for a fast, free start; inventory-heavy retail leans to Lightspeed; businesses that also sell online lean to Shopify POS; and anyone whose top priority is lowest total cost or owning the system with no processor lock-in leans to JET POS. Higher card volume and a no-contract preference both push toward systems you can negotiate and own. Want the numbers behind it? Use the 3-year cost calculator.
Quiz FAQ
What is the best POS system for my business?
It depends on what you sell, your card volume, whether you sell online, and what you value most. Full-service restaurants lean to Toast, cafés and food trucks to Square, inventory-heavy retail to Lightspeed, online sellers to Shopify POS, and anyone prioritising lowest cost or no lock-in to JET POS. The quiz weighs these factors and shows its reasoning.
Is the quiz biased toward JET?
No. JET is published by our parent company and we disclose that everywhere, but the quiz only favours it when your answers point that way — mainly when you prioritise lowest total cost or owning your system with no processor lock-in. For restaurants, retail inventory, or online-first selling it recommends Toast, Lightspeed or Shopify instead.
Does the quiz send my answers anywhere?
No. Everything is computed in your browser; nothing is submitted or stored. You can retake it as many times as you like.
